Stone Cipher Farm
Ian Jerolmack is the founder, owner, and operator of Stonecipher Farms, a certified organic, small vegetable farm in Mid-coast Maine. He and his wife, their five children, and a small staff grow and sell a diverse range of veggies, greens, herbs, berries, ginger and turmeric year round using 9 greenhouses and many acres of open fields. The farm, founded in 2008, practices a form of planting called no-till or zero tillage which is an agricultural technique for growing crops or pasture without disturbing the soil through tillage. No-till farming decreases the amount of soil erosion tillage causes in certain soils, especially in sandy and dry soils on sloping terrain. The support themselves 100% with the farm and are proud to keep the land in agriculture and the community in locally produced food
