Poet
Eleanor Wilner is the author of seven books of poetry, including Tourist in Hell (University of Chicago), The Girl with Bees in Her Hair and Reversing the Spell (Copper Canyon). Her other works include Gathering the Winds, a critical study of visionary imagination as an agent of change, as well as The Rag-Picker’s Guide to Poetry, which she co-edited with Maurice Manning. A former MacArthur Foundation fellow, her poetry appears in fifty anthologies– most recently, The Best American Poetry 2014 and 2016 (Scribners). She holds an interdisciplinary PhD. from Johns Hopkins University, is a former editor of The American Poetry Review, is an advisory editor for Calyx and Poetry International, teaches in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College, and is a lifelong activist for civil rights and peace.
