Shuttle

Parking at Camp Manitou is somewhat limited, so carpooling or taking the shuttle is encouraged. A shuttle bus will leave Portland Jetport at approximately 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, making a stop at the Portland Transportation Center en route to Camp Manitou. The shuttle will leave from Camp Manitou for Portland by approximately 8 AM on Wednesday, May 27.

You must book travel arriving in Portland no later than 2:30 PM on May 20, and leaving Portland no earlier than 11 AM on May 27 if you wish to use the shuttle. Shuttle aims to arrive at the Jetport by approximately 10 AM on Wednesday May 27. This timing is an estimate, and is not strictly guaranteed.

If your flights arrive or depart outside of that time frame, we can't guarantee a shuttle ride, but you can post in the private GMC Facebook group to see if other attendees could offer a ride

If you are traveling by bus or other means, you are welcome to sign up for the shuttle as long as you convene at Portland International Jetport (PWM) or Portland Transportation Center by the times stated above.

Lodging at Camp Manitou

Shared Cabins

As Camp Manitou is a children’s camp from June-August, lodging on offer are shared cabins with bunk beds and shared bathrooms.

Cabins do have:

  • Pillows, sheet sets, thin blanket, towel

  • Shared bathrooms with showers

  • A mixed of shared cabin space and private rooms.

Cabins do not have:

  • Dedicated Wi-Fi access points (some Internet connectivity is available in the main buildings, but it should not be relied upon for critical work)

  • Warm blankets (you should plan to bring your own sleeping bag or blanket)

Camping

If you would prefer to camp outside of a cabin, this is also possible. Attendees often camp in tents, and there is a specific area on campus set aside for camping. Please inquire at check-in before setting up tents. See our list of recommended items specifically for camping.

Food at Camp Manitou

Meals are served buffet-style, with a wide variety of choices available. The staff at Camp Manitou serve coffee (early!), hearty breakfasts, lunches and dinners with a salad bar both of the latter mealtimes.

Dietary restrictions are accommodated as best as possible. Vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarians options will be offered for those who request them at the time of registration.

Alcohol is present at Conference celebrations. Wine is served at the gallery opening, and at the banquet at the close of the week.
