Maine in summertime

Summer weather in Maine can be fairly erratic! It can range from very hot on some days to quite cold (even as low as 40°F) during the evenings. It may be clear and sunny some days or rainy and chilly on others. Come prepared for this variety!

Recommended items

Along with the necessities listed below, remember to pack a sense of adventure and a good sense of humor. Be sure to bring festive clothes and finery to wear for our banquet at the end of the week, as well as for the opening of the Art Gallery.

Musical instruments and art supplies are always welcome, and highly encouraged!

This list encompasses items that are not provided by the Conference or by the camp, so attendees are strongly encouraged to bring the following:

  • Warm sleeping bag or blankets - Maine gets cold at night even in summer! Camp Manitou provides a pillow, sheet sets, a thin blanket, and a towel.

  • A curtain, clothes line, hangers, clothespins, sheets, linens, scarves, sarongs, and/or hanging tapestries for beautifying and adding privacy to your bunk area

  • Basic toiletries

  • Earplugs (statistically, snorers outnumber non-snorers 2:1!)

  • Rapid antigen COVID-19 tests: We ask you to test upon arrival and again 2-3 days after arrival - please bring extras to share if you have them!
